Snooker round-up: Green day for leaders Pyramid B after Jason’s super 77 break

A sensational 77 break from Jason Green helped Spalding and District Snooker League Division One leaders Pyramid B make it seven wins from as many games on Thursday night.

The top-tier table-toppers were 5-1 winners at Consti F to keep their flawless start to the season going, with Green’s (O63) heroics coming in a frame win against Warren Peel (scr).

His super 77 is the highest eligible break of the season so far, with only ex-pro Mark Gray managing better.

Alfonso Palumbo (O49) also impressed in that clash with a 37 break in the final frame to keep the Bourne boys at the summit.

Holbeach A are two points behind them in second after they were 4-2 victors over Tulips B. Breaks of 39 and 22 from Mark Woodberry (O42) were in vain in that one.

A further point back in third are Bourne SC A after they edged a derby at Pyramid A 4-2. Star man Gray (O105) bagged breaks of 31 and 21 for the high-fliers.

There’s then a five point gap back to Long Sutton A, who were beaten 4-2 at Tulips A. Sean Swinburn’s (O42) 32 break was in vain for fifth-placed Sutton.

Elsewhere, Stephen Holstead (O35) sank a 34 break for Services F – but his side were beaten 4-2 at Boundary B.

That theme continued as Donington C defeated Services E 4-2, despite a 33 break from Martin Spencer (O21).

In Division Two, Consti G remain top after handing visitors Boundary C a 5-1 reverse.

Black-ball victories from Deane Baker (O14) and Wayne Fobelts (O28) helped Consti on their way to a sixth win from seven games.

Three points behind them are Boundary A, who picked up a 5-1 win at Crowland A.

Services A are level on points with them, having seen off Consti I 4-2.

Pete Mullane (O21) got the job done for his side with a 22 clearance in the penultimate frame.

Meanwhile, Thomas Horspool (O35) made an impressive 39 break to steer Long Sutton B to a 4-2 victory over Services B – who are still looking for their first league win of the season.

In Division Three, Long Sutton C are three points clear at the top after a 5-1 win at Consti D. Dan Mayfield (O28) was again on-song for the leaders with a 35 break, but

Consti’s Martin Perkins (O28) trumped that with a fantastic 48 break.

Donington B are hot on their heels following a 4-2 victory over hosts Services D – despite a 22 clearance from Tanya Peel (O7).

Also impressing were Gosberton A, as they beat Consti A 4-2 with Ady Halgarth (R14) making in a 22 clearance in the match-winning frame.
