Snooker round-up: Four-midable Pyramid B keep winning run alive

Pyramid B are the only top tier side to boast a 100 per cent record after the fourth round of fixtures in the Spalding and District Snooker League.

The Bourne side handed Holbeach D a 4-2 reverse to make it four wins from as many matches – and they duly hold a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Jason Green (O63) clinched the win for the table toppers in the penultimate frame, while both Alfonso Palumbo (O49) and Paul Daw (O28) made 28 breaks in the final frame, which the latter won.

Rivals Bourne SC A are second in the standings after demolishing Tulips A 6-0.

Star man Mark Gray (O105) bagged a 67 break and a 27 clearance in that one.

They are level on points with Holbeach A, who lost their unbeaten record with a 4-2 defeat at Donington A.

A 22 clearance from John George (R7) was the highlight of that clash as Donington secured their first victory of the campaign.

A further two points back are Donington C, who picked up a 5-1 success at Boundary B. Neil Reynolds (O49) gave them the best possible start with a 30 break in the opening frame.

Long Sutton A continued their resurgence with a 5-1 victory at Holbeach C, inspired by a 40 break from Sean Swinburn (O42).

Elsewhere in Division One, breaks of 32 and 28 were in vain for Shane Cummins (O14) as Services C lost 4-2 against friendly foes Services E.

In Division Two, Services A made it four wins from four with a super 6-0 success at Pyramid D.

Frame wins came from Charlie Mullane (R14), Mike Knights (O21), Paul Quincey (R7), Adi Liqourish (R14) and Pete Mullane (O21), with the latter managing a cool 24 break.

Boundary A are one point off the pace in second after picking up a 5-1 derby victory over club rivals Boundary C.

The all-Deepings affair offered up breaks of 28 and 22 from Daz King (O7) and Pete King (R7) respectively.

Consti G are two points further back after beating club-mates Consti H 5-1, while Gosberton A also have three wins after a 4-2 triumph over Crowland A.

Jamie Mumby’s (R7) 29 break was the highlight for Gosberton, as he clinched the win in the fifth frame.

With Division Three leaders Long Sutton C not in action, their advantage was cut to one point.

Donington B were 4-2 winners over Whittlesey A to go second, with their frame victories coming from Pete Burrell (scr), Phil Burrell (R7) and Gav Lewis (scr).

They are level on points with Pyramid E, who edged to a 4-2 win over Services D.

This one went to the final frame, with John Clapton (R7) seeing off Tanya Peel (O7) to settle the showdown.

Meanwhile, both Consti E and Holbeach E wrapped up their second wins of the campaign.

Consti saw off Gosberton C 4-2 after Lindsay Porter’s (R14) black-ball triumph over Stuart Tamplin (R7), while Ben Hardin’s (O14) final-frame win helped Holbeach beat Gosberton by the same scoreline.
