Snooker round-up: Bourne SC A buck the trend to stay flawless in Divsion One

Only one side held on to their unbeaten record in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League after the third round of fixtures on Thursday night.

It’s Bourne SC A who boast three wins from three after they edged out Holbeach D 4-2 in a tight tussle.

Wins from Ian Gibson (R7), Oli Player (O28) and Michael Byrne (R7) did the job, while Mark Gray (O105) managed a 46 break in defeat.

The two sides losing their unbeaten records were Pyramid D and Holbeach C.

A 5-1 reverse at Services A saw Pyramid fall off the top, with Vince Fitter’s (O28) 24 break the highlight for the Spalding side.

Holbeach, meanwhile, came a cropper 4-2 at home against Tulips B in a game that saw Mark Gregory (O21) and Mark Woodberry (O56) bag breaks of 39 and 34 respectively.

Elsewhere in the top tier, Jake Pettit (O7) sank a 37 break as Tulips A lost 4-2 at home against rivals Services C, while a 29 break from Neil Reynolds steered Donington C to a 5-1 triumph over Boundary A.

In Division Two, the two leading pace-setters clashed – and it was Consti F who swept Donington A aside 5-1.

Frame wins from Warren Peel (scr), Justyn Stanley (R14), Brian Turnell (R21) and Peel again got the job done for Consti to make it three wins from three.

Holbeach E also boast a 100 per cent record after seeing off Long Sutton B 4-2. Ben Harding (O21) clinching the win in the final frame.

The other two unbeaten outfits were both beaten 4-2 on their own baize.

Tulips C were handed a home reverse by Holbeach B despite a 20 break from Jack Chilvers (O21), while Jim Howe’s (O42) fine 40 break steered Boundary C to victory over Whittlesey C.

At the other end of the table, Services B collected their first win of the season by beating Consti H 5-1.

In Division Three, Gosberton D have three wins from three after dispatching club mates Gosberton B.

Also flawless after round three are Pyramid B, who saw off visitors Consti B 5-1.

However, Consti I couldn’t keep their winning run going and were sentenced to their first loss of the campaign by Whittlesey A. Mick Blythe’s (R14) win in the penultimate frame sealed a 4-2 win.

Gosberton C were the week’s big winners as they waltzed to a 6-0 success over Pyramid E. Andy Shephard (R21), Stephen Tanner (R7), James Elliott (R7), Stuart Henderson (R7) and Stuart Tamplin (scr) were all on-song with frame victories.
