It’s looking certain to be a nip and tuck finish to Division Two in Spalding and District Snooker League.
Third-placed Gosberton B underlined their intentions with a five-point haul last week, while the top two of Services C and Pyramid B were both losing 4-2.
Now just three points cover the top three sides ahead of the final two fixtures.
Shane White got the ball rolling for Gosberton B with a 28 break in the 5-1 win over Services D.
Adam Twigg, Sam Craft and Norman Gookey also won, with Martin Ulyatt only losing out on the black ball as Mike Small claimed the struggling Spalding’s side’s consolation.
Services C still head the table, despite a shaky start at home to Boundary C. Skipper Nigel Cherry, Shane Cumming and Geoff Hemsil all lost before Mark Spiller (with a 25 clearance) and Kev Fitter rescued two points.
They go to Pyramid G on Thursday (April 21) and host Consti G next week.
Pyramid B are just one point behind the leaders. All three frames they lost at lowly Consti H last week were settled on the black ball.
The league title is not the issue in Division Three, it’s the fight to be runners-up to Services F.
The two main contenders met last week, with Whittlesey C returning from Gosberton A with four points.
Lol Hailstone, Mick Blythe and Malc Bromfield grabbed the wins which gives Whittlesey C a two-point advantage in the table.
Long Sutton C have an outside chance of nicking second place, thanks to a 5-1 home win over Consti J. Captain Susan Lefley played twice, losing to Les Andrews but later beating Nick Keeble.
Meanwhile, the league champions were beaten for just the sixth time this season.
Jack Chilvers and Tom Turner appeared to have set Services F en route to another routine victory, but Consti A roared back to take the final three games. Rob Savic, Steve Hall and Paul Kent were all convincing winners.
In the top flight, a 6-0 win over bottom side Long Sutton A retained Tulips B’s hopes of snatching the runners-up spot. However, their chances are not helped by having to host champions-elect Donington A on Thursday, who need just four points from their final two matches to clinch the crown.
Second-placed Bourne SC A will be waiting to pounce on any slip-up. They host Holbeach A this week.
At the foot of the table, Long Sutton B and Consti B are still fighting for survival after defeats last week.
