Snooker: Duo make Cliff Hall Memorial Shield progress

V SPORT

Hillside and Grantham B are in the hat for the next round of the Cliff Hall Memorial Shield – but they progressed in differing manners.

Hillside were made to work hard for their win, having edged out The A Team 3-2 at Donington.
Vince Fitter, Kevin Fitter and John Keeton delivered the three wins needed for Hillside, with Nigel Brasier and Sam Major hitting back for the losers.

David Lefley and Nigel Cherry lost for Hillside, as did Peter Keal, Tony Scully and Jim Thompson for The A Team.
Grantham B disposed of Holbeach Hot Heads in ruthless fashion as they cruised to a 5-0 triumph.
Their clean-sweep was inspired by wins from S Gowen, B McGarvey, L Gorely, S Crompton and M Thulborn. The beaten Hot Heads were Mick Ayres, Jem Merrison, Mick Pearl, Bobby White and Mark Hubbard.
