Snooker round-up: Exciting finale in Spalding and District League as all three titles go to wire

A cracking climax to the season is in prospect with the title races in all three divisions of the Spalding and District Snooker League going down to tonight’s (Thursday) final round of fixtures.

In Division One, long-term table-toppers Holbeach A suffered a wobble as they went down 5-1 at home against Pyramid A.

They could have clinched the top tier crown on the night, but wins from Victor Rouse (scr), Michael Twell (R14), Norman Vaughan (O7) and John Twell (O7) gave the Bourne side the points

That opened the door for Services E, who are now just three points behind after they beat Holbeach C 4-2.

Kev Emerson’s (R14) final frame success has the Spalding side in with a shot of pinching the title at the death.

Away from the title race, a 32 break from Neil Grant (scr) helped Holbeach D win 4-2 at Donington C, while Glenn Chilvers (R7) made a 22 clearance as Services F beat Donington A 6-0.

In Division Two, Boundary A failed to get the points they needed to seal the title as they slumped 6-0 at Crowland B.

The Deepings side are six points clear of Pyramid D, so remain in the box seat.

Behind them, Long Sutton B kept their top three hopes alive by defeating Crowland A 5-1. A 48 break from Phil Goodman (O42) was the highlight for Sutton.

There was a big game at the foot, with rock bottom Consti I seeing off second-from-bottom Services B 4-2.

Tim Nash (O28) and John Bellerby (scr) made breaks of 25 and 20 respectively in that one as both sides kept their surival hopes alive.

Division Three is wide open, with just three points spanning the top four teams.

Long Sutton C are two points clear at the top after beating Consti E 5-1, but Holbeach E beat third-placed Donington B 4-2 to stay in contention.

The duo are level on points after Lee Pickett (O14), Aaron Coe (scr) and Zac Rowlett (O14) won the first three frames for Holbeach.
