Snake stops play in Sutton St James’ Sunday clash with Shouldham

Sutton St James’ clash with Shouldham in the King’s Lynn and District Sunday League was temporarily delayed on Sunday – because a snake slithered onto the pitch.

The game was locked at 1-1 when the unwanted visitor entered the playing field, with a player forced to give the reptile the red card and safely remove it from the pitch.

One league official tweeted: “Delay in the SSJFC v ShouldhamFC game due to snake on the pitch. Welcome to the Fens.”

Sutton St James eventually lost the game 4-2.
