Smith’s 53 break helps put his team at the top of the table

Mat Smith lit up the second division of the Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night with a 53 break.

Smith (O35) also knocked in a 32 on his way to victory over Alan Jackson (scr).
He helped his team, Holbeach A, to a 5-1 win away to Gosberton A, which has seen them move to the top of the table.
Other winners were Derek Beba (R7), Pete Ransome (O28) and Wayne Dent (O49), who got a 49 break.
Andy Adair (R14) took the solitary point for Gosberton.
Services B had a free week and have dropped to second place.
Consti F have moved up from fifth to third, thanks to a 4-2 win over Holbeach E.
Darren Stanley (R28), Robert Adams (O7) and Bryan Turnell (R14) were the winners for Consti.
A 4-2 win over Whittlesey C has moved Services D up from seventh to fourth.
Joel Shears (R7) took the first frame for Services, before Neil Burton (O14) hit back for Whittlesey.
Ian Smith (scr) put Services ahead again, but Jason Bloomfield (O21) levelled the scoreline, leaving Russ Morse (scr) and Simon Parker (O7) to fight it out for the win, with Morse coming out on top.
Holbeach F got the better of Boundary A, beating them 4-2.
Boundary started well taking the first two frames, thanks to Pete King (R7) and Elliott Cox (R14), but Susan Lefley (R21), James Quinton (scr) and Alex Bourne (O21) won the last three frames to take the win.
Consti I took on clubmates Consti B, with the I team taking the spoils.
They won 4-2 thanks to wins from Simon Law (scr), David Twelves (O7) and Richard Geddes (R28).
Pyramid E are propping up the table, following a 4-2 loss to Donington A.
John George (O7), Nigel Brasier (O21) and Glenn Ryan (O28) were the winners for Donington.
Up in Division One, Services A and Bourne Snooker Centre A have swapped positions, after Services beat Bourne 4-2.
Services, who are now top of the division, got the win thanks to Martin Spencer (O28), Phil Spencer (O7) and Chris Dunmore (O35), who took the first three frames respectively.
Pete Hodgson-Kerry (O28) and Oliver Player (O35) hit back for Bourne, but it was too little, too late.
A 5-1 win for Services C has pushed them up to third.
Opponents Consti G started well, thanks to a win from Neil Grant (scr), but it was downhill from there, as Jordan Philpott (R7), Geoff Hemsil (R21), Mark Spiller (O7) and Shane Cummins (O14) were all victorious.
Last season’s champions Donington C are in fourth place – they lost 4-2 to Pyramid C.
Winners for Pyramid were Spencer Dawkins (O56), David Pearson (O7) and Alfonso Palumbo (O49).
A 36 break from Mark Gregory (O28) in the deciding frame helped Holbeach C to a 4-2 win at Pyramid D.
Gregory beat Peter Sharpe-Grose (scr) to seal the win. Other winners for Holbeach were Nick Edwards (R14) and Callum Scott (R7).
Holbeach D have moved from the bottom of the table after a 4-2 home win over Pyramid D.
It’s as you were at the top of Division Three, with Donington B holding on to the top spot thanks to a 5-1 win over Whittlesey A.
Pete Burrell (scr), Paul Stewart (R7), Phil Burrell (scr) and Mick Clark (R14) got the wins for Donington.
Despite having a free week, Gosberton D remain in second.
Consti D, however, have moved up from seventh to third, having beaten Gosberton B 5-1.
Tom Digby (R7), John Cooper (R21), Geoff Ellingworth (R21) and Martin Perkins (O21) earned the wins for Consti.
Stuart Ruskin (R7) got the better of Steve Moore (R14) in the final frame to take a single point for Gosberton, who sit at the bottom of the division.
Boundary B took on Consti C, emerging 4-2 winners.
Victorious on the night were Stuart Phillips (scr), Paul Spittlehouse (O49) and Mick Goddard (scr).
Mark Craig (R21) and Steve Crane (R7) were the winners for Consti.
Pyramid B got the better of Consti A, beating them 4-2 at home.
Consti started well with wins from Nigel Steadman (scr) and Paul Kent (R14), but the final three frames went Pyramid’s way, thanks to Dennis Pearson (scr), Adam Zignani (scr) and Richard Clark (scr).
Consti J are second-from-bottom after losing 5-1 to Gosberton C.
Trevor Braybrook (R14) was Consti’s only winner, while Stuart Tamplin (R7), Stuart Henderson (O7), James Elliott (O14) and Rob Lockett (R28) were winners for Gosberton.
Whittlesey B took on Donington D with Whittlesey coming out on top.
They won 4-2, victories coming from Andy Skutela (R14), Michael Foster (O14) and Pawel Skutela (R7), who beat Alan Stanley (R7) in the decider.
