Skoulding-hot round from Steve and Paul clinches Tydd St Giles pairs victory

Home pair Steve Skoulding and Paul Jackson toppped the leaderboard at Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s seniors pairs open competition.

The Tydd duo scored a whopping 51 points to finish well clear in the overall standings.

Home runners-up were Terry Cobb and Colin Page on 45 points, with Sid Haxell and Derek Martin the third-placed home duo on 42 points.

The away team winners were Eric Savage and Phil Jones 46 points (RAF Marham) ahead of Heacham Manor’s Trevor Nutt and Nick Owen on 43 points. Adrian Everett and Mark Wright (Nene Park) were third, also on 43 points.

Meanwhile, the award for being nearest to the pin on the fourth hole went to visiting player Jim Holland (RAF Marham), while the nearest to the pin on the eighth hole was Tydd’s Malcolm Berridge.

The final awards for being nearest to the pin went to Ray Palmer (11th) and Derek Wroe (16th).

Organiser Roy Pesterfield said: “Thanks to all for taking part in the annual event. I’m pleased to announce that from the raffle and halfway house a grand sum of £581.40 was raised for East Anglia Air Ambulance, which is the seniors main charity for 2016.”
