Six-y Services E get new Spalding and District Snooker League season off to the perfect start

Services E stormed to a 6-0 win on the opening night of the new Spalding and District Snooker League season to get their Division One campaign off to a flier.

Martin Spencer (O14) led the way with a 24 break in a frame triumph, while Vince Fitter (O21), Chris Dunmore (O7), Phil Spencer (O14) and Kev Emerson (R14) also secured frame successes.

Breaks of 23 and 21 from Mick Johnson (O42) and John Keeton (O14) respectively were in vain for Consti.

Also making stellar starts to the top flight season were Boundary A, Donington C and Bourne SC A, who all picked up 5-1 victories.

Cue ace Mark Gray (O105) pocketed a 34 break as Bourne beat Holbeach C, while Lee Hempsall (scr) sank a 24 break in Donington’s win over Consti F. Deepings side Boundary saw off Pyramid A.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Jem Merrison’s (O35) 33 break couldn’t stop Holbeach A going down 4-2 against Holbeach D, while Alfonso Palumbo (O49) plundered a 34 break in Pyramid B’s 4-2 win over Boundary B.

In Division Two, three sides kicked off with 5-1 victories.

Crowland A despatched Pyramid D to seal five points, while Pyramid C had too much for Donington A.

Holbeach B were the other side to notch a five-point haul, as Zac Rowlett (O21) reeled off a 31 break against Consti H. Phil Coaten (O14) also made a 21 break for the victors, while Doug Garfoot (O21) hit back with a 23 break for the defeated away side.

Meanwhile, Steve Godfrey’s (O35) final frame victory earned Long Sutton B a 4-2 triumph at Services A in a game that saw Wayne Howard (O28) nail a 22 break.

Craig Fitter (O56) was also on-song with a pair of 20 breaks for Services C, but his side lost 4-2 at home to Whittlesey C.

It was also 4-2 to the away side as Long Sutton C suffered a reverse in their first game up in the second tier.

A 26 break from Jack Chilvers (O21) in a final frame success over Keith Wells (O35) was key for Services.

Down in Division Three, Consti E made the perfect start by handsomely beating Services D 6-0.

Frame wins from Kevin Sweeney (scr), Bob Adams (scr) and Lindsay Porter (R14), plus a double from John Mumford (R21), got the job done for hosts Consti.

A 20 break from David Twelves (R14) helped Consti I prevail 4-2 at Whittlesey B, while Consti C edged out Pyramid E by the same score despite a 20 break from Neil McLeane (O7).
