SIX-A-SIDE SOCCER: Baltic United smash five as 75 goals light up night

A thoroughly entertaining night in The Spalding & South Holland Voice 6-a-side league on Monday 75 goals across the 12 matches – and not one draw.

Division One

Brennan’s Sports suffered their second straight defeat for the first time since the league began. They went down 5-1 to Baltic United in a result which was closer than the score suggests.
Brennan’s enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and took the lead but Baltic did what they do best – take any scrap of a chance afforded to them.
With Edgaras Buzas running the attack, Baltic will always be a threat for any lapse in defending. The score was only 2-1 approaching the last few minutes but a flurry of quick goals saw Brennan’s drop down to fifth in the league.
Baltic’s Aris Plalis was referee Tim Stoodley’s man of the match.

Last season’s two promoted Division Two sides went head-to-head for the first time in the top tier.
Champions Posh Old Boys were put to the sword in a 7-4 goal-fest against reignited Old Boy Coaches.
Even with Darren Spillet in the sin-bin, Posh Old Boys couldn’t make the extra man count and the prepared and professional showing from Old Boy Coaches saw them take the advantage.
Posh Old Boys evidently missing the bellowing tones of skipper, goalkeeper and all-round tactician Simon Black.
Trevor Laud picked up another man of the match for Old Boys after impressing referee Matthew Follett.

Notinmymums Forest chalked up their second win in a row following a very impressive win against a stubborn Univeg Team.
The final score was 2-1 to Forest as they climbed into fourth spot.
The game itself was a great advert for the league, both sides playing in the right spirit with the result uncertain right to the very end.
Forest played with no substitutes and will openly admit they were hanging on at the end as Univeg pushed for an equaliser. Tom Cherry was picked as man of the match for his tenacious work-rate and deft touches at the top of the Forest attack.

Polishborough turned out in an attractive new kit and managed to maintain their 100 per cent start to the campaign.
The title favourites secured a comfortable 4-0 against struggling Pinchbeck United.
It’s now six wins from six as last season’s runners-up continue to set the early pace.
Thomasz Michalowicz scooped his first man of the match for Polishborough.
Pinchbeck failing to find their tempo against the continually well-organised middle line of Polishborough.
A tough tie against Univeg awaits for the Poles next Monday as they look to continue their league domination.

The most one-sided match of the night saw You’ve Got No Fans turn over EPH Allstars 14-2.
The scoreline did not flatter YGNF as they completely dominated the game from start to finish. Were it not for the individual heroics of the EPH keeper this could well have finished as a record score.
The impressive victory catapults YGNF into eighth place and keeps EPH rock-bottom on goal difference.
Scott Williams was given his third man of the match of the season as he takes an early lead in the player of the season tally.
EPH face a relegation four-pointer against Pinchbeck United next week in a must-win game.

Ten goals went in between Wet Dream Team and Ultra D as both sides threw caution to the wind. Ultra D maintained impressive recent form by snatching the win 6-4.
Wet Dream Team had moments of brilliance, but Ultra D continued to show that they are a threat this season with a third straight win. Louis Steadman was given man of the match as he continued to impress for the boys in black.
Wet Dream Team will look to bounce straight back in a winnable tie against Old Boy Coaches next time around.

Division Two

Simple FC remain the only team in the second division with a 100 per cent record after their sixth straight victory.
Dynamo Kiev were the victims, losing 3-1 for a fourth straight defeat. Simple FC lived up to their name with decent pass-and-move football, although it wasn’t their best showing.
Leigh Boekestijn picking up his third man of the match award.

Mail Carters suffered their third straight defeat, 2-1 to hard-working Goaldiggers.
George Smith got the nod for man of the match.
Tekkerslovakia took an early lead against Sarah’s Boys but suffered a 2-1 loss. The result was a fair reflection of the domination that Sarah’s Boys enjoyed after conceding early on.
Joe Martin was man of the match, finishing beautifully for the winning goal.

Borrussia Teeth succumbed to the drastic improvement in form that Le Saux Solid Crew have enjoyed recently.
The Crew won 5-0 to go seventh in the table. Harry Ledger was the main man once again with his second man of the match showing in as many games.
Borrussia are still struggling to find their feet despite a couple of decent individual performances.

Evolution’s unbeaten start came to an abrupt end. A disastrous defensive mix-up in the final few minutes saw new boys The TBME run out 2-1 winners.
Jake Farrell was given man of the match.
The TBME have now announced themselves as genuine contenders for promotion. They face the equally in-form Le Saux Solid Crew next week while Evolution will look to overcome this blip against Tekkerslovakia.

Five goals in two second-half minutes contributed to BK Athletic’s 7-0 drubbing of rock-bottom Balotellitubbies.
Last season’s Division One wooden spoon winners have struggled to find any flow in the lower tier as they crumpled to their fourth straight defeat.
BK’s now sit fourth and will be delighted with the start they’ve shown. Liam Ford bossed the game with a great individual performance which saw him named man of the match.
