There was a mix of both primary and secondary schools participating.

Taking first prize was St John the Baptist School winning £500, second prize went to Ayscoughfee Hall School winning £250, followed by Priory School who received third place and £100.

Terry Moore, committee chairman, said: “It was great that the number of schools taking part increased this year following the success of 2013.

“The standard of entries was particularly high, making it a fantastic festive evening for the town.

“As a local employer we are proud to support such an event and I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy New Year.”
