Simpson is Tigers hero

Back-up goalkeeper Josh Simpson was the Holbeach United FA Vase hero, saving two penalties to secure a shoot-out victory at Shirebrook Town.

The match finished level at 1-1 after captain Sam Carter had given the Tigers a second-minute advantage from the spot.
It went straight to a penalty decider after 90 minutes and Simpson, in for the injured Brad Waters, saved the hosts’ first two spot kicks. Kyle Compton, Josh Ling and Jordan Keeble made it 3-0 before the UCL Premier Division side pulled one back. It was left to Carter to score the decisive fourth spot kick.
Holbeach’s reward is a tough home tie against Hellenic League Division One leaders Droitwich Spa on Saturday, October 19.
The Worcestershire side have won seven and drawn one of their eight matches and hit 12 goals in their two FA Vase ties – beating Nuneaton Griff 6-2 at home and Bewdley 6-3 away.
Tigers: Simpson, Yambasu, Lee, Ling, Oldham, Carter, Compton, Thorne, Wright, Ibeneme, Cook. Subs: Greenacre, Keeble, Cocciti, West, Bassendine-Matthews.
Att: 72.
