Simon’s September running fundraises for Macmillan Cancer Support

An IT manager from Spalding raised the money necessary to fund a cancer support nurse for a day by running 118 miles in a month.

Simon Lilley (43), of St Helena Drive, took on Out Run September for Macmillan Cancer Support as a personal challenge and to add to recent fundraising efforts.

He raised £235, surpassing his original target of £204 – the cost of funding a cancer support nurse for a day.
He said: “Every little helps.”

The latest fundraising takes the total raised by Simon and wife Jo for cancer charities to over £1,000 since having a joint collection in lieu of presents for their 40th birthday.
Simon started running about five years ago to lose weight and, after shedding four stone, has kept it up.

Last Sunday (Oct 9) he completed the Perkins Great Eastern Run in 1hr 56mins 59secs.
