Sid’s 51 break helps Donington deliver the goods

A fine individual showing from Sid Shaw steered Donington to a 5-2 victory at Pyramid B in the Spalding and District Billiards League on Monday night.

Shaw (O10) reeled off a fine 51 break, as well as pocketing further scores of 31 and 23 in his frame win.

Norman Gookey (R80) delivered their other frame return, with Darrell Read (R40) – who made a 24 break – the only Pyramid winner.

In-form Long Sutton romped to a 7-0 win at Holbeach A, with John Dawson (R30), Mick Cooper (O40) and Adam Barwell (O10) all making breaks in the 20s en route to winning their games.

Also winners on the night were Consti D, who swept aside Consti D 5-2.

John Bellerby (R80) took the coveted scalp of Mick Johnson (O170) in the opener frame, despite the ace potter racking up scores of 38, 27 and 25 (twice).

Stewart Davies (R20) then made a 21 break as he won the second frame, rendering John Keeton’s (R30) final frame success as mere consolation.

The score was also 5-2 as Crowland B saw off Consti A. Richard Wesley (R80) and Allan Sharman (R70) pocketed breaks of 21 and 31 respectively to wrap that victory up.

Lindsay Porter (R40) hit back with a 25 break and frame win for Consti.

Elsewhere, Holbeach C earned a 5-2 home success over Pyramid A as Terry Shaw (R70) starred with a cool 24 break. Ashley Bunn (R40) was the other winner.
