Sex offender avoids jail over thousands of images of children

A Spalding man who was caught with over 11,000 indecent images of children was spared jail.

Darius Krzyzan, 44, was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his home in Lewis Court, Spalding, in July 2022.

Lincoln Crown Court heard police found indecent images of children on two devices after acting on “information received.”

Phil Howes, prosecuting, said in total police found 11,948 indecent images of children which were downloaded over an 11 year period.

Mr Howes told the court 40 images were in the most serious category of A, including 14 videos, 17 in category B and 11,891 in category C.

During interview Krzyzan said he was embarrased by his offending and blamed the breakdown of a long term relationship for his behaviour.

The court heard Krzyzan had no previous convictions either in the UK or his native Poland.

Krzyzan, of Lewis Court, Spalding, admitted five charges of making indecent images of children.

Neil Sands, mitigating for Krzyzan, said he was a hardworking man who currently worked shifts.

Passing sentence Recorder David Brooke KC said he was concious of the fact Krzyzan had no previous convictions and that the vast majority of images were in the lowest category.

“It seems to me given your remorse and your desire to seek help that I can draw back from custody,” Recorder Brooke explained.

Krzyzan was sentenced to an 18 month community order and must complete 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

He was also made the subject of a ten year Sexual Harm Prevention Order which will restrict his internet use and contact with children.

Krzyzan must also notify as sex offender for five years.
