Seven weeks to Christmas Fair

The public has been giving its Christmas decorations ahead of the creation of a new ‘Winter Wonderland’ in the Castle Sports Complex leisure centre.

The event is being put on by Steve Timewell on Saturday, November 11 as a fundraiser for next year’s Spalding Flower Parade.
The Christmas Fayre will feature over 60 local stalls selling crafts and hand made items, there will be food and drink along with a Winter Wonderland and Santa’s grotto
You can book a time slot to visit santa in his grotto at www.spaldingflowerparade.org.uk and every child will receive a personal gift from the man himself
Over the last few weeks the event organisers have been accepting donations of unwanted Christmas trees and decorations to construct the winter extravaganza
“So far we have had over 25 trees dropped off, along with boxes and boxes of decorations,” Steve said. “I am delighted with the number of local craft stalls that have already booked in, the event is going to be amazing.”
The event will start at 11.02 on the Saturday, after a two minute silence as a memorial to those that cannot be with us at Christmas
“It’s another chance for the community to get together,” Steve told us, “I feel very strongly about community and will do everything in my power to bring people together, to be able to do it at this special time of year makes it even more special.”
“We have been very fortunate that Ashwood Homes have stepped in and helped in the form of sponsorship.”
The event will be managed by volunteers and Steve hopes to raise over £3,000 towards the parade.
