Seven-up for A in Consti clash

A 5-2 victory at Gosberton sees Pyramid A pulling clear at the top of the Spalding & District Billiards League.
Marcus Pell (o40) scored breaks of 21 and 20 in an opening frame win for the hosts but Reagan Cooke-Holmes (r80) and John Twell (r70) turned things round, despite Shane White (o40) striking breaks of 52 and 23 in the final frame.
Consti A gave themselves a massive boost in their efforts to move off the bottom of the table with a stunning 7-0 win at Consti B. Alan Hawsard (r70), John Bellerby (r90) and Stewart Davies (r50) were victorious for the ‘away’ team in the Consti derby. Bellerby scored a 21 break, with Jason Rose (scr) managing a 22 in the opening frame for the B team.
Holbeach B’s title hopes took a hit with a 5-2 defeat at home to Bourne SC. Lester Gaunt (o30) hit breaks of 54 and 28 on his way to winning the opening frame and Carl Gibson (r50) struck a 22 to decide the match before Neil Harvey (r50) scored a 20 of his own to pull one back.
Pyramid B outscored visitors Holbeach A 512-506 on aggregate but still went down 4-3. Phil Cooke’s (r100) 200-106 second frame success swayed things towards the hosts for the bonus point but wins from Phil Coaten (r90) and Ben Harding (r10) secured overall victory. Harding hit breaks of 36, 34 and 24, while Mick Cooper (o200) hit a 44, despite losing his game.
