Serving a treat for the community

Adults with a disability are getting a taste of what it’s like in the catering industry at a charity’s cafe.

Hub In Hub Out is held every Wednesday at Project St Thomas, St Norbert’s Catholic Church’s community centre, in Spalding from 12pm to 2pm.
It aims to provide a cooked meal at an affordable price for people who might be struggling in the community, while also providing a good excuse to socialise.
Theresa Holley, of Theresa’s Home Kitchen, provides the food served by some of the adults with special educational needs who visit the centre.
Last week chair of South Holland District Council Jan Whitbourn was invited to have a look at what they do.
Coun Whitbourn said: “What an amazing opportunity it is for everyone to come and enjoy their lunches every Wednesday.
“It’s also a great opportunity for those at the Chappell Centre to learn about working in catering.”
As well as the Wednesday sessions, Project St Thomas also offers community coffee mornings at the St Thomas’ Road building.
Anthony Grunwell, a trustee, said: “Project St Thomas is about serving the community. With Hub In Hub Out it is about raising money for the project.”
Tracey Carter, also a district councillor, also helps out with Project St Thomas.
“It’s always a nice atmosphere and we’ve good quality food on offer at excellent prices.
“Everybody is welcome to come along.”
