The halfway stage of the Spalding & District Billiards League saw bottom team Services gain their third win of the season.
Hosting Gosberton, they won 5-2 to boost their confidence going in to the second half. Chris Dunmore (scr) got them off to a good start with a 200-168 win against Shane White (o30), Dunmore making the highest break with 36. A winning margin of nine points saw Des Forbes (r70) level the match against Vince Fitter (o15). A consistent performance from Nigel Cherry (r90) took the points for the home team with a 200-103 win against Marcus Pell (o45).
A top-of-the-table clash between Donington B and Broadway saw second-placed Broadway edging it 4-3. Mick Pearl (r45) continued his unbeaten season for Donington against Roxton Chapman (o270) 200-0, he also made his highest break of the season with a 41. Broadway’s Steve Singh (o45) and Gary Norman (o260) turned the match in their favour with wins against Neil Reynolds (o50) and Neil Burton (r60).
An all-Pyramid affair at Bourne saw the A team take bragging rights, beating the B team 5-2. Maurice Phillipson (r80) took the two points for the A team with a 200-178 win against John Clapton (r110). John Twell (r60) and Oli Player (r30) for the B team were winners against Phil Cooke (r100) and Darrell Read (r20) respectively.
Another local derby was at Holbeach and it was level at one game apiece but clash of the captains saw Ben Harding (o5) win against Denis Hix (r70) 200-143 to give Holbeach A a 5-2 win against the B team. Jason Rose (scr) had got the A team off to a good start, beating Andy Spearman (r70) 200-183. Neil Harvey (r30) levelled it with a 200- 77 win against John Dawson (r50).
Consti entertained Donington A and the visitors went two up, with Nigel Brasier (r55) and Jim Thompson (r70) beating Mick Johnson (o85) and Alan Hansard (r70). Consti’s John Bellerby (r110) saved a whitewash with a 200-155 win against Kevin Goodenough (r20) as Donington ran out 5-2 winners.
