South Holland marked VJ Day on Sunday (August 18) with a service at St Mary’s and St Nicolas Church.

A parade was held before the service involving members of the community, standard bearers, veterans and the Peterborough Highland Pipe Band.
Rev Pat Willson conducted the service which included Steve Wand playing the bugle and marking the timings of the Kohima and the Homage read by Ken Willows.
VJ Day (Victory over Japan) is on August 15 and commemorates the Japanese surrender in 1945 which effectively ended World War II.
