UPDATE – 80-year-old found dead following RTC in Sutton St James

An 80-year-old man has died following reports of an RTC near Sutton St James this morning.

Lincolnshire Police say the man was found in a ditch next to his vehicle on the B1390. The road remains closed.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A spokesman for the police, said: “We can confirm the body of a man in his eighties was found in a ditch next to his vehicle this morning. 

“We are treating this death as unexplained and await the outcome of a postmortem.

“His family have been informed.”

Earlier Lincolnshire Police tweeted: “Emergency services are on scene at a serious RTC involving one man, on the B1390 at Sutton St James, Spalding.

“The road is closed, and we are asking people to find alternative routes if possible.

“If you witnessed anything that may help officers with their enquiries, please contact us on 101 quoting incident 37 of 15 March.”
