Second defeat for Long Sutton

South Lincs and Border League Championship leaders Long Sutton suffered a set-back as they lost by five-wickets at home to Skegness.

After being put in, Sutton collapsed to 55 for 6 early on despite opener Nathan Oliver’s 32 runs from 34 balls.
But they recovered with a partnership of 80 from Dom Clay and Barry Stanway.
While Clay anchored scoring 72 from 61 deliveries, Stanway went about scoring at quicker than a run a ball.
He continued after both Clay and Charlie Crisp fell with the score on 135 but captain Jake Burton came in to get his side over 200.
Stanway was out four runs earlier having hit 73 from 60 with Burton scoring 31 not out as Sutton set 205 for 9 from their 45 overs.
Stanway (1 for 30) and Ricky Brown (1 for 13 from nine overs) picked up early wickets while Jacob Gray (2 for 41) ousted opener Shaun Dawson for 21.
But a big partnership between Parth Palawat (71) and Carl Abbiss (56) proved vital in taking Skegness to victory.
Gray had Abbiss caught and Dan Oldfield (1 for 37) caught and bowled Palawat, but Norman Brackley (17 not out) and George Gregory (8 not out) saw Skegness home with 14 balls to spare.
With the previously second placed Moulton Harrox’s defeat, with bonus points Sutton actually extended their lead of the division despite this second defeat of the campaign.
They’re now 26 points ahead of Sleaford.
Long Sutton’s 2nd XI remain top of Division Two after a seven wicket win at Uffington.
They chased down the home side’s 122 all out.
