Donington school stays ‘Good’

Children at a Donington school are happy, enjoy attending and feel safe, says its latest Ofsted report.

The Donington Cowley Endowed Primary has been rated as Good across the board following an inspection in March.

The grade is given for quality of education, behaviour, personal development and early years provision.

“The school has high expectations for every pupil. Well-established routines enable pupils to meet these expectations.

“As a result, lessons are calm and pupils are able to focus on their learning,” says the report published last month.

The primary school has 256 children aged between four and 11 and is part of the Horizon Schools Federation.
High-quality pastoral support was highlighted along with children valuing rewards for hard work.

“The school’s ambition for all pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities is reflected in the broad curriculum, which has been strengthened over the past two years,” says the report.

Reading is a priority at the school and children learn from an early age.

“The school is tenacious in its approach to attendance. It checks pupils’ attendance closely,” the report adds.
