Saturday round-up: Pinchbeck crash out of Lincs Junior Cup, Tigers and Harrox rained off

A rain-hit day saw a host of South Holland’s football sides kicking their heels on Saturday – including Holbeach United and Moulton Harrox.

The Tigers’ UCL Premier Division game at Huntingdon Town was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, while Harrox’s ChromaSport PDFL clash at Uppingham Town was also off.

It was a good day for Holbeach without  them even kicking a ball, though, with leaders Leicester Nirvana and title rivals Kirby Muxloe both beaten.

Of the games that did beat the weather, the most high-profile was Pinchbeck United’s 3-2 Lincs Junior Cup defeat at Railway Athletic.

The surprise defeat sees Pinchbeck’s impressive ten-game unbeaten streak come to an end.

Sutton Bridge United march on in the county competition, though, having won 6-1 at Chapel Swifts. Tydd St Mary are also through after a 3-0 home win over Mablethorpe Athletic.

Crowland Town were the only South Holland-based PDFL Premier Division side in league action, but they were crushed 10-1 at home by ICA Sports.

Elsewhere, Long Sutton Athletic were dumped out of the PFA Challenge Cup 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Ketton Reserves.

In the same competition, Spalding Town progressed with a fine 4-2 win at higher-graded Moulton Harrox Reserves.

Mark Astley, Gav Bailey, Gary Booth and Markus Parry notched for the Division Two side.
