Saturday football: Home wins for Tigers and Knights, decent away draw for Tulips

Spalding United drew 0-0 at Leek Town on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South to three games, while Holbeach United saw off Wellingborough Whitworth 2-1 and Pinchbeck United beat Bugbrooke St Michaels 3-1.

Starting with the Tulips, they followed up back-to-back home wins over Bedworth United and Lincoln United with a solid draw at Leek.

It could have been better for Chris Rawlinson’s side, though, as they missed a second-half penalty.

The Tulips, who are now sixth, are back in action at Frickley on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

In the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division, a late Lewis Leckie goal gave Holbeach a 2-1 Carter’s Park win over Whitworth.

George Zuerner’s first-half effort gave the Tigers an advantage on ten minutes, but Jack Dyson hit back on 26 minutes.

Things took a turn for the worse for Seb Hayes’ side when Joe Smith was sent off on the half hour, only for Whitworth to have Ryan Baxter dismissed after the break.

That set the stage for Leckie to bury a 79th-minute winner, which moves Holbeach up to fifth in the table.

Meanwhile, Pinchbeck are up to third in UCL Division One after seeing off Bugbrooke at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Ollie Maltby (2) and player/boss Ian Dunn notched for the Knights, who are just three points off top sport.

They visit table-toppers Raunds Town in the UCL KO Cup on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

Elsewhere, Moulton Harrox remain top of the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division after a 5-0 success at Ketton.

The goals came from Bobby Patterson (2), Matt Watkin, Louis Steadman and Marcus Parry for Harrox, who are still unbeaten.

Fellow Premier Division side Holbeach United Reserves went down 3-0 at Leverington Sports.
