Saturday football: Amazing start for Tulips, Tigers win again and Harrox stay perfect

Spalding United made an hugely impressive start to the new BetVictor NPL South East Division season with a 2-0 victory at Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, while Holbeach United’s fine form continued with a 2-0 triumph at Anstey Nomads in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division.

Starting with the Tulips, goals from Jamie Jackson (penalty 19) and Ben Richards (52) secured Matt Easton’s side the best result they could have possibly expected on the opening day.

They will hope to take that form into Tuesday’s night’s home clash with Loughborough Dynamo (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, strikes from Josh Ford (penalty) and Jonny Lockie moved Holbeach up to sixth in the table as they made it three wins from four competitive games this season.

The only blot on the Tigers’ copybook was Spencer Tinkler’s red card in the second half.

Danny Hussey’s side now move on to a home derby with Deeping Rangers on Wednesday (7.45pm).

In the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox maintained their 100 per cent record in the Premier Division by beating Ketton 2-0.

Holbeach Reserves drew 2-2 with much-fancied Parson Drove, while Long Sutton lost 2-1 at Netherton United.

More to follow.
