A Spalding salon director says her trust in people has been rocked by a hairdresser who stole money from the business.
Ashleigh Hubbard used a card machine to make refunds of customers’ payments to her own bank account.
She denied stealing £808.10 from Oasis Beauty Hair and Day Spa, but was found guilty during a trial at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 11).
The 20-year-old, of Chestnut Avenue in Spalding, was working as a self-employed hairdresser at the business’s Swineshead salon, which has since closed.
Hubbard was taken on in November 2013 and the thefts occurred between February and May last year. They only came to light after she announced she was leaving.
Jo Barrett-Osborne, director of Oasis, which has premises in Little London, admits Hubbard was “a bloody good hairdresser” and blames some of the reason for the Swineshead salon closing on the thefts and Hubbard taking customers with her.
She added: “You trust everybody that comes into your life. Now I’m asking myself can I trust them or not?
“The thing is, if she was in financial trouble I would have helped her.”
Hubbard is due to be sentenced on June 15.
