Rural Post Office service “temporary” closure

A rural post office service has closed

Fleet Post Office has for the last two-years been based at The Chestnut Tea Rooms in Topgate between Fleet Hargate and Gedney.

But on Monday customers were unable to access the service.

The Post Office has told The Voice that the closure is “temporary” and is due to the resignation of the postmaster.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We apologise to customers for the temporary closure of Fleet Post Office, this is due to the resignation of the postmaster.

“Customers should be assured that we are committed to maintaining a Post Office service in the area and we are currently assessing options to identify a permanent solution to sustain vital Post Offices services – from every day banking to a wide range of postal services – for the local community.”

“Any retailer or small business owner interested in running the Post Office and incorporating it into their business should ring 0845 266 8790 and talk to an advisor or email ND.enquiries@postoffice.co.uk or visit www.runapostoffice.co.uk.”

The nearest Post Offices are at West Street Long Sutton and Holbeach Post Office.
