Runners-up spot still up for grabs

With Pyramid A already crowned as the Spalding and District Billiards League champions, the runners-up place rests on the only outstanding match.

Holbeach B are currently in second place but clubmates Holbeach A could leapfrog them if they beat Donington A in the only remaining match.
Most teams contested their final games on Monday night, but Holbeach A against Donington was postponed from February 24 and is yet to be played.
Currently just a single point separates the two Holbeach teams.
Holbeach A played Gosberton, beating them 5-2.
Winners were Ben Harding (r10) and Mick Cooper (o200), while Gosberton’s points came courtesy of Des Forbes (r50).
There were a number of breaks in the match including a 43, 38, 28 (twice) and 25 (twice) from Cooper and 22 and 21 from Harding.
Gosberton’s Marcus Pell (o40) knocked in a 30 and 27, while team mate Shane White (o40) got a 22.
In an ironic twist, Pyramid A, who have only lost five matches all season, went down 5-2 to bottom of the league Consti A, who have only won three all season.
Consti A’s winners were Alan Hansard (r70) and Stewart Davies (r50), while John Twell (r70) was the victor for Pyramid A.
Reegan Cooke-Holmes (r80) got a 22 break in his frame against Davies.
There were breaks galore in Bourne SC’s match against Donington.
Jason Bates (O150) knocked in a 51, 36, 35, 32, 27, 22 and 20 (twice), while Ben Wrigglesworth (r10) got breaks of 31 and 30.
Bates’ breaks weren’t enough though, as Donington won the fixture 7-0 thanks to Wrigglesworth, Nigel Brasier (r70) and Tony Scully (r40).
In a bottom of the table clash Pyramid B got the better of Consti B, beating them 5-2.
Winners were Maurice Phillipson (r70) and Phil Cooke (r100) for Pyramid, and Jason Rose (scr) for Consti.
Consti’s Mick Johnson (o120) scored breaks of 35, 34 and 20 in his defeat to Phillipson.
qThe Billiards Shield final will be contested on Friday, March 14, the individual handicap on Saturday, March 29 and the billiards scratch on Sunday, March 30 as part of the Spalding Snooker and Billiards League championship finals.
Trophies will be given out at the presentation evening on Friday, May 30.
