There was date at Buckingham Palace for a member of Spalding Lions yesterday (Wednesday, February 28).
Lions Clubs are currently celebrating an international centenary and Michele Elvin represented Spalding at a special event.
The Countess of Wessex was due to host a reception for members at Buckingham Palace yesterday to help the club mark the milestone.
Members from across the country were invited to take part, along with charity partners of the organisation.
The Spalding branch holds a variety of fundraising events for the local community, including the annual Santa’s Sleigh.
Lions Clubs International currently has more than a million members in more than 200 countries.
Members of the Spalding branch held a race night at the town’s South Holland Centre at the weekend.
More than 25 prizes were donated for the raffle which was held during the evening.
Guests also enjoyed a sausage and mash supper and the races were run by Tom Mayhew.
During the evening there was also a cheque presentation to Spalding PHAB.
Representatives had been unable to join other groups at a recent evening which was arranged to present cheques from the Santa’s Sleigh events.
