Round Table and Ladies’ Circle fund new ropes for South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club

South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club are feeling thankful after a thoughtful grant allowed them to buy five new lane ropes for their pool at the Castle Sports Complex.

They were funded by the Spalding Round Table and Spalding Ladies’ Circle, who provided the club with a grant of £651.

Each year, the Round Table and Ladies’ Circle jointly run Spalding’s Music and Beer Festival in the nearby Castle Sports Hall.

Money raised is donated to local youth charities and sports clubs.

Over the past few years, parents of the swimmers have been volunteers at the beer festival and have helped serve behind the bar. In return, they have helped towards the funding of the clubs diving blocks and other equipment.

During training, the swimmers have struggled to set up the old broken ropes – but now they can set up the pool easily.

Also, the ropes are being used for the public during normal opening hours.

Andrew Sorrell, chairman of SLCSC, said: “I wish to thank the Round Table and Ladies’ Circle for the continued support of the club and for funding of equipment.”
