Rotary Club of Spalding looks to roots

The Rotary Club of Spalding is to return to its traditional name, something it’s celebrating this weekend.

It’s name was chosen back in 1937, but in recent years it had ‘The Welland’ tagged on the end after merging with the previous club of that name.
Now members have voted to ditch that suffix and go back to the original name of just Spalding.
Tomorrow and Saturday (April 19 and 20) alongside the Woodland Trust and South Holland District Council it will be planting trees in Moulton Park.
“Any volunteers with their own spades and wellies would be welcome to pitch in and really make a difference,” said president Diana Ridpath.
Members will also be at Spalding Market on Saturday explaining more about what the club does and there’s a chance to win a meal for two in a local restaurant.
The club is also hosting an open evening 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 8 at its usual meeting spot of The Woodlands Hotel in Spalding.
