Rotary chair’s triathlon target

The chairman of Spalding Rotary Club is preparing to do his own mammoth triathlon to raise money for two good causes during his year in office.

Graham Dawson is looking to swim the equivalent distance of twice the width of the English Channel (42 miles) cycle for 1,000 miles and complete the ‘Couch to 5K’ running challenge and raise money for Breast Cancer Now and the Rock School Bus.

He has set himself the challenge of doing all this by next June.

“I chose Breast Cancer Now because my dear mother passed away after having a mastectomy and then the cancer returned to defeat her,” said Graham. “It is not something I would wish on anyone’.

“The Rock School Bus is a not for profit group which encourages disaffected children to engage with learning a new musical instrument or singing in front an audience.

“I chose this after seeing what efforts the organisers go through to make this work for the children that come to them.”
