Ros makes a point to target series success

Ros Nickols holds a slender lead in the Welland Yacht Club’s afternoon points series.
Nickols is currently a point clear of Tom Bell with two races left after rounds three and four on Sunday.
Race three saw Lucy Burton pull out an early lead before being caught by the faster boats which saw the results settled by boat handicap.
Results: 1 Paul Wilson, 2 Ros Nickols, 3 Lucy Burton, 4 Niall Holland.
The fourth race also went in a similar vein as, with no two boats in the same class, it was all about trying to work out how far you had to be ahead.
Results: 1 Ros Nickols, 2 Brian Cobb, 3 Phil Robinson, 4 Lucy Burton.
Six juniors took part in the Cadet 2 race which, with the use of personal handicaps, enabled all levels of ability to compete.
Again everyone had to just sail their best and hope their time once adjusted was still the quickest.
Results: 1 Emma Agar, 2 Lucy Burton, 3 Niall Holland, 4 Harry Whitelam, 5 Neo Thorpe, 6 Katie Follington.
For the newer participants hopefully this experience has set them up ready for the forthcoming Cadet Regatta on September 25.
The last two junior sessions of the season are this Sunday and September 25 from 9.30-11am.
The club is also hosting it’s own ‘Bart’s Bash race’ on Sunday with results feeding into the ‘world’s largest sailing race’.
Visitors, ex-members and guests are welcome to take part. Anyone wanting to try sailing should email secretary@ wellandyachtclub.co.uk
