Roof set alight as Spalding home is hit by lightning

A fire broke out at a Spalding home last night after it was hit by lightning.

Spalding Fire Crew was called out to a roof on fire on Ambleside Drive off Hawthorn Bank at around 9pm last night (Sunday, April 12).

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said that a loft space suffered “moderate” damage due to the fire which was caused by a lightning strike.

It was extinguished using hose reels and breathing aparatus.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “No casualties were reported.”
