Rob’s 91 is best break of The Spalding and District Billiards League season so far

Cue ace Rob Childs made the biggest break of the Spalding and District Billiards League season so far on Monday night.

Childs, who plays off a whopping O230 handicap, made a fine 91 for Crowland B against Holbeach C.

He also chipped in with breaks of 58, 50 and 42 as he defeated James Glover (R100). However, Colin Dodd (R70) and Ben Harding (R80) won the other two frames to give Holbeach C a 4-3 win.

Elsewhere, table-toppers Long Sutton moved 10.5 points clear at the summit after dispatching Crowland A 7-0 on home soil.

Mick Cooper (O150) and John Dawson (R30) both made breaks of 37 for the leaders, while Joe Garland (R60) added a cool 28.

Second-placed Donington, who have played a game more than Sutton, battled to a 4-3 win over Holbeach B.

Sid Shaw (scr) and Ben Wrigglesworth (R60), who made breaks of 23 and 21 respectively, got the job done for them.

Jim Thompson (R40) also reeled off a 31 break, but was beaten by Tony Blanchard (R60) – who notched breaks of 23 and 20 in the process.

Away from the title race, Gosberton A thrashed Pyramid A 7-0 as Andy Shephard (R120), Norman Gookey (R70) and Malc Dennis (R120) all won.

Consti C also beat Consti B 5-2, despite a solid 35 break from B team ace Mick Johnson (O180).
