Spalding United have made their intentions clear ahead of the new National League North season.
With several clubs from higher levels reportedly showing interest in last season’s top scorer Jack Roberts, the Tulips have tied him to the club with a three-year contract.
That will keep him at the Sir Halley Stewart Field until June 2029, following a remarkable season in which he scored 28 goals and registered 22 assists, helping Spalding to second place in the Southern League Premier Central table and promotion via the play-offs.
Roberts (21), who joined from Bishop’s Stortford in March last year, said: “The club is heading in a positive direction and that’s something I want to be a part of.
“Hopefully we can build on what we achieved last year. Achieving promotion was an amazing day, and hopefully there will be many more moments like that to come.”
Yusifu Ceesay has also been retained for the 2026/27 season but the club have released Nathan Fox, Dan Lawlor and Ben Hart, who were all thanked for their service.
☐ Pinchbeck United have lost striker Flynn Slater to Eastern Counties League side FC Parson Drove.
Slater scored 11 goals for the Knights in the United Counties League last season to go with 18 from the two seasons before.
Pinchbeck have been drawn away to Holbeach United in the first round of the Lincolnshire County FA Senior Trophy.
The tie is due to be played in the week of October 12.
☐ Peterborough League runners-up Crowland Town have appointed George Edwards as their new manager, with Dan Fountain his assistant.
