Defiant player/boss Tom Roberts feels that his Holbeach United side have “nothing to lose” as they they prepare for two tough ChromaSport UCL Premier Division games in four days.
The Tigers play host to unbeaten Northampton Sileby Rangers on Saturday (3pm), before making the trip to leaders and title favourites Peterborough Sports on Tuesday (7.45pm).
Having seen his side end a two-game losing streak by beating Leicester Nirvana 3-2 last weekend (see page 36), Roberts would love to emerged unscathed from the two clashes – but appreciates how tough it’ll be.
He said: “They are two very tough games. But we go into them with absolutely nothing to lose.
“Sileby and Sports are both top teams and the league table reflects that.
“But Sileby will have to lose sometime. A bit like us against Desborough the other week, it just happens.
“Why can’t we be the side to end their run? They are in great form, but we’ve got players coming back and I’m confident that we can get something.
“As for Sports, I tipped them for the title at the start of the season and haven’t really seen any reason to change my mind.
“They have great quality going forward and are also very tough to score against.
“We can go there and play without fear. They’ll want to play football, so we’ll have the chance to express ourselves too.
“The thing is, Sports are expected to win every game and that’s a lot of pressure.
“They’ve been shocked by Deeping Rangers this season, so who is to say that we can’t do the same?”
Josh Ford is available for Holbeach again after suspension, but skipper Jamie Stevens is struggling with a hamstring injury that he picked up playing for Holbeach United Sunday in their 20-0 Lincs Sunday Cup victory over Fleet.
