Roaring charity fun

The owner of a Spalding hotel braved the shave during a charity coffee morning.

The Red Lion hosted a cake and coffee sale for Macmillan and, with headshave, more than £800 was raised.

“It was a delight to see so many people join us as we raised money for a charity close to the hearts of many. The efforts of our whole team in baking, preparing and running the event were gratefully appreciated,” said hotel owner Jeremy Powell, who is now sporting a new haircut.

Regular patron Warren Clarke also had a close shave by Stuart, from the Spalding town barbers.

Jamie Davenport, area fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: “It’s thanks to businesses like the Red Lion that Macmillan can continue to offer support to people that need it the most. We rely on fundraising for 98 per cent of our income.”
