A fly tipping blitz has been carried out alongside the A17 as part of the Pride in South Holland campaign.
Rubbish that had piled up in laybys next to the busy road was cleaned up by South Holland District Council’s street sweeping team.
The crews then headed to Long Sutton to sweep footpaths and alleyways in the area.
More than 100 tonnes of rubbish have been cleared in recent weeks as part of the council’s bid to transform derelict and eyesore sites across the district.
Last month the district council announced that a new street sweeping machine had joined its ranks and along with its two permanent vehicles will make sure that as many small towns and villages are cleaned as possible.
The sweeping team has already hit the streets of Deeping St Nicholas and Crowland as well as heading along the A16 to clean up roundabouts and traffic islands.
The Pride in South Holland campaign was launched recently to boost eyesore sites in the district and has already made great strides.
The former Bull and Monkie pub in Spalding has been cleaned up and other sites, including the Red Cow at Donington are now being targeted.
Over the coming weeks the Pride in South Holland campaign will see local areas spruced up with a range of actions to ensure the district stays clean.
The campaign will also include:
- Additional cleaning of town centres
- Community payback service carrying out improvement tasks
- Re-painting of equipment at play areas
- New signage and CCTV installed where necessary.
