Police are investigating three separate crashes in the area, resulting in the death of three people in just a week.
A car overturned into a water-filled ditch last Friday after a collision involving three different cars.
Two police officers went into the water to try and save a trapped man, but their efforts were in vain and he died at the scene.
Officers arrested seven men and later released them on bail.
The collision was at Tongue End, Counter Drain Drove and was reported at 3.37pm. The three cars were a grey Ford Focus, black Vauxhall Insignia and a grey Volkswagen Touran.
All the arrests related to motoring offences, police confirmed.
“We are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police. If you saw the collision, or saw the cars in the area of Tongue End prior to the collision, please get in touch,” said a spokesman. Call 01522 212316 quoting incident number 270 of November 24.
A woman died on the same day following a crash on the A16 towards Peterborough, near the blue bridge, where a silver Ford Fiesta travelling eastbound was in collision with a silver Kia Sorento travelling the opposite way at around 6.10pm.
The passenger in the Sorento, a 79-year-old woman from the Barnsley area in South Yorkshire was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 79-year-old woman from the Spalding area was seriously injured and taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.
The Fiesta driver, a 33-year-old from Sawtry, near Cambridge, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where he is said to be in a critical condition.

A motorcyclist was killed after a collision at Tydd Gote on Friday, November 17.
He was riding a blue Harley Davidson and was involved in a collision with an HGV at 10.40am.
The man, in his 50s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, where he later died.
