Road to be closed for relief road work

A road is to be closed next month as part of works on the most northern section of the Spalding Western Relief Road.

Blue Gowt Lane will be closed for a ‘month and a half’ from July 7, Lincolnshire County Council say.

Sam Edwards, head of highways infrastructure, said: “As part of the ongoing construction of the Spalding Western Relief Road’s north section, we need to build a culvert over Blue Gowt Drain that will connect the relief road’s new shared cycleway/footway to the existing Blue Gowt Lane.

“Unfortunately, this means we need to excavate a section of the lane, which means it will be fully closed to vehicular traffic for a month and a half. However, we’ll be maintaining access for pedestrians throughout that time.”

A diversion will be in place from Pennytoft Lane/Cherryholt Road/ Mill Green Road/Blue Gowt Drove, and vice versa
