Roach the order of the day as Jez Rockett’s to win at Tydd Gote Angling Club meet

It was lift-off for Jez Rockett on Sunday as he emerged victorious in Tydd Gote Angling Club’s latest meeting.

There was a degree of trepidation at the draw given the poor results of late – but although the North Level still fished hard, there were some reasonable weights of mainly silver fish.

Rockett was on end peg eight and made no mistake with a lovely net of mostly roach and a bonus 10oz skimmer to pinkie and maggot over groundbait for 6lb 5oz to take the win.

Pete Emery pushed him close from peg six, though, finding a big tench of 4lb plus on worm to go with his silvers for a second placed 5lb 11.5 oz.

Andrew Kilby was third from peg four with 2lb 15oz of roach to pinkie over groundbait, despite fishing long spells for tench to no avail.

It was pleasing to see roach and skimmers throughout the length and Dave Simmonds took a good 1lb plus skimmer along with silvers for fourth from peg five.
