Rising Gosberton star Abbi impresses on her senior karting debut

Top teenage Abbi Pulling contested the first round of the Motorsport UK British Karting Championship last week – and once again showed she’s a force to be reckoned with.

The Junior champion, from Gosberton, was stepping up to Senior standard for the first time at the PFI Kart Circuit only six days after a successful debut in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge at Oulton Park.

Changeable weather threw in a curve ball, but Tal-ko Racing works driver Pulling managed to be quick in all circumstances, despite not having driven her kart for almost three months.

Some very tough races resulted in fifth and eighth places in the two heats, with qualifying issues making the races more difficult.

In a field of 48 entries, hard-fought tenth and 12th positions were the reward for the Alyssa Smith Jewellery supported driver in the two finals.

Pulling is now looking ahead now to her next Ginetta GT5 outing, which is the televised round on the BTCC programme at Thruxton on the weekend of May 18 and 19.

With a big step in confidence coming away from Oulton Park and a test day next week, British Women Racing Drivers Club champion Pulling is targeting some top results.

She thanks Alyssa Smith Jewellery, Banzai Events, Freem Racewear, www.thermserve.com, www.opentrack.co.uk and Marchand Watch Company for their continued sponsorship and support.
