Revamped Spalding radio station delivering new sound

The Spalding radio station rescued from the jaws of extinction is getting into its stride under new management.

Now known as “Tulip – The Station You Can Really Call Your Own”, market research is about to be undertaken to find out more about what the community wants from it.

The station – formed when the charity Hereward Media launched a bid to take over Tulip Radio on the day it was to finish broadcasting last month – said: “There is a commitment to going live more, and increasing the amount of audience interaction.
“At present, upgrades to current phone, text and email services are being carried out to make it easier for presenters and listeners to communicate with each other as the shows hit the airwaves.”

It added: “Regular presenters have been put in place on weekdays, with Sunrise (5am-7am), Blitz Breakfast (7am-11am), Lunch (11am-3pm), and Drive (3pm -6pm). Returning shows are being given a makeover, to ensure they work best for the audience and also adhere to the station identity at the same time.
“The concept is that whenever you tune in, you will know that regardless of the subject matter you are listening to Tulip.”

Experienced broadcaster and local businessman Craig Bunday presents a weekday double-header of programmes – Working Lunch from 11am-1pm and the light-hearted Bunday Brunch from 1pm. And starting on Thursday, January 26 is The Rurality Show (weekly 7pm-9pm).

Presenter Jim Boulton said: “This is a genuinely community-based show.
“We preview and review what’s happening in the locality, but ensure we do it in an entertaining way. There are also some interesting characters who join us every week, as well as having singers and bands come and perform live in the studio.”

Tulip can be found at 107.5FM and online via www.tulip-radio.co.uk/
