A man who made ‘numerous unwanted telephone calls’, including threats to burn her house down, to his former partner, has been ordered to undergo rehabilitation days and be electronically tagged by magistrates in Boston.
Leigh Squance (47), of Glenside North, Pinchbeck, admitted harassment when he appeared in court in June and was appearing for sentence following a probation service report.
The Crown Prosecution Service said he made threats to burn her house down and had sworn and been abusive towards her in the telephone calls made between April 24 and June 10 this year.
The probation service report said Squance claimed anger had ‘got the better of him’ and that he felt he had been unfairly treated, and it was said he had breached bail conditions of not contacting her.
Mitigating, Daven Naghen said Squance had complied with a community order in the past and urged the magistrates to follow the recommendations of the probation service.
The magistrates ordered that he comply with an 18-month community order and undertook ten rehabilitation days, have three months electronic monitoring and complete a relationship course.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £180 in court costs and charges and a restraining order was imposed to prevent him contacting his former partner directly for two years.
