Restaurant and flats plan for former Holbeach hotel

A rundown building in a prominent town-centre position is the subject of a conversion plan.

A proposal has been put forward to turn The Bell Hotel in Holbeach’s High Street into a licensed restaurant and six apartments (three each on the first and second floors).

The property, which is not listed but is in the Holbeach Conservation Area, has been bought by Londoner N Stanakzai. The plans include the external fabric of the building, particularly the sliding sash windows, to be repaired and decorated.

South Holland District Council ward member Francis Biggadike said: “Residential is the only financial way to resuscitate this property.”
