Residents from Beech Lodge Nursing Home near Holbeach were treated to a day out at Springfields Festival Gardens in Spalding.

The day was organised by Steve Shore, who looks after activities and entertainment for the 30 residents of the home, most of whom have dementia-related conditions.

There were some classic cars, which many remembered and recognised from their past, and everyone enjoyed the pleasure of seeing the flowers, trees and wildlife in a relaxed setting.

Steve said: “It was nice to have a few surprises on the day and it was very rewarding for the staff to see the joy and pleasure the outing provided.

“It will be talked about for some time and we are already looking forward to our next day out later this month”.
He added: “We are like a family at the lodge and the days out provide something to look forward to and talk about and it is very important to get people out and about and benefiting from different experiences.”

Beech Lodge, in Frogs Abbeygate, is part of the Country Court Care group and is always interested to hear from volunteers – especially those with a musical talent – to help bring a variety of activities and entertainment to enhance the resident experience.
