Residents of the Little London area of Spalding have been left without internet for over two weeks after a car fire damaged a wiring cabinet.
It follows the incident on Tuesday, January 9 when the brakes on a car failed leading to it crashing into a barrier on London Road.
It also damaged the internet connections in the area.
Local businesses are now understood to be back working but a number of homes remain offline.
Barbara Bone, who lives on Hawthorn Bank, says she was initially told by Openreach that the internet would be fixed by January 19 at the latest, though work is continuing.
“In a day and age when government and councils are only contactable by email this is unacceptable,” she said. “The fact they chose not to advertise the network was out so that we all thought it was just our provider stinks to be honest.
“I have had to make a round trip to Tesco at Serpentine Green to upgrade my data on my phone. Openreach’s lack of service is appalling.”
Openreach say it’s a big job but it is hoping to get all of the residents back connected by next week.
A spokesman for Openreach said: “We are busy repairing extensive damage caused by a car fire.
“This work is complex and time-consuming, but needed to get everyone’s broadband connection working again.
“We understand it’s frustrating for those living nearby, but we’re working as quickly and safely as we can to rebuild the damaged roadside cabinet, and re-cable and reconnect all of the wires within it.
“We think this work will continue throughout the week.”
